Check message accuracy in AI answers

Turn important corporate messages into verifiable factual claims, then compare relevant AI answers with that evidence sheet. Mark accurate, qualified, contradicted and absent statements separately. Preserve the question, date and sources, and prioritize material inaccuracies without treating every omission or critical tone as a factual failure.

Which messages can be checked objectively?

Choose material claims that a reader can verify: a product’s availability, an organization’s current operating region, a documented certification or a specific published milestone. Break compound messaging into separate assertions. “A global, award-winning leader” is difficult to score consistently; a dated product launch in named markets is more concrete.

Create an evidence sheet with approved wording, public source, relevant date, scope and expiry conditions. Ask the factual owner to check it before evaluating the model. Keep aspiration separate from fact. Label a future commitment as planned and assess completed achievements separately.

How do you choose fair questions?

Ask questions where the claim is relevant. A question about support availability can reasonably test service hours; a general category recommendation may omit them without being inaccurate. Keep a factual verification panel separate from broader narrative questions so omission has an interpretable meaning.

Record wording, interface, model, language, region and date. Use repeated observations where variation affects the decision. The variance-components preprint provides a methodological reason to separate prompt, model and language effects; it does not establish a universal failure threshold for every message.

In Rankfor Answer Trail, enter the specific question and optional brand, choose the available model configuration and inspect the captured answer and surfaced source pages. Preserve that analysis separately from the project’s Index measurement, which uses its own instrument.

What coding rules prevent a misleading score?

Use a matrix with a row for each claim and a column for each answer. Define the categories before reviewing results:

CodeMeaning
AccurateThe answer preserves the material fact and scope
QualifiedThe answer states the fact with a relevant condition
ContradictedA material assertion conflicts with verified evidence
UnsupportedThe answer introduces a claim without adequate support
AbsentThe relevant claim is not stated

A fictional example: Cedar Works operates in three named countries, but an answer says it operates throughout Europe. The issue is geographic scope, even if the tone is favorable. Conversely, “Cedar Works operates in those three countries, with a limited service range” may be accurate if the limitation is supported.

Review factual accuracy and tone in different fields. A critical statement can be accurate; positive wording can exaggerate. Avoid merging both into one number that hides what needs correction.

How do you investigate the source evidence?

Open each citation associated with a disputed claim. Check the date and the passage that allegedly supports it. Citation-verifiability research distinguishes links being present from links actually substantiating claims. An absent message does not prove the cited sources were unclear or reveal the internal cause of the omission.

Assign action by finding: update an outdated owned page, request a correction to a demonstrable third-party error or improve a genuinely missing explanation. Retain the source record and the requested change. Reassess the same relevant questions later and report unresolved cases. A lower observed error count supports a scoped accuracy finding; it does not guarantee that every buyer receives the intended narrative.

Steps to follow

  1. Create the verified claim sheet

Separate factual assertions and retain public sources, dates and scope.

  2. Choose relevant test questions

Match each claim to a question where its inclusion or accuracy matters.

  3. Code answers consistently

Separate accuracy, qualification, contradiction, unsupported statements, absence and tone.

  4. Correct and reassess

Assign evidence-backed actions and recheck the same conditions with unresolved issues retained.

Common questions

Is negative tone a message failure?

Assess the factual statement and its support first. Critical but accurate context is different from a factual error.

Should every answer repeat our key messages?

Evaluate relevance to the question. Missing promotional emphasis is not automatically an inaccuracy.
